Alice Springs · NT

Breda at Uluru

Hi, I’m Breda Knightly, a Registered Marriage Celebrant. I have called the beautiful red earth of Alice Springs home for the past 3 years, and also lived here for 3 years previously. I am originally Irish, but have been in Australia since 1997. Alice Springs is the only place I have ever come back to to live.
Please get in touch if you would like to chat about a ceremony you wish to hold.
It is my privilege to craft ceremonies alongside those I hold space for, to honour life’s milestones such as weddings, funerals, vow renewals, naming ceremonies or big life rites of passage such as menopause — or any moment you wish to commemorate.
With a calm, relaxed, and chilled nature, I’ll make sure your ceremony feels completely yours — personal, meaningful, and stress-free.
Contact me and let’s chat about your ceremony!

Distinguished and Famous people from Cloncurry

🩺 John Flynn

John Flynn campaigned for an aerial medical service that could overcome some of the distances separating outback residents from treatment. The service was established at Cloncurry in May 1928, with pilot Arthur Affleck and doctor Kenyon St Vincent Welch making the first flight two days later. It grew into the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Flynn's contribution was advocacy, organisation and bringing the necessary people and resources together; he was not the pilot or doctor aboard that first aircraft. Cloncurry supplied the operational beginning of an idea with national consequences.

🏛️ Don Lane

Don Lane was posted to Cloncurry as a police officer in 1956, before service at Mount Isa and later Brisbane. He entered State parliament in 1971 and became transport minister, with responsibilities including railway electrification and changes to road-safety administration. His public career ended in disgrace: following the Fitzgerald inquiry, he was convicted of misappropriating ministerial expenses and imprisoned. Cloncurry’s connection is the early police appointment. An accurate account needs both the later ministerial work and the convictions, while keeping those subsequent events separate from the town’s documented place in his working life.
